| Comments | In the planning stages of a 3200 sq foot house just outside of Lunenburg. The house will be L shaped. The largest part being 36x36 feet with one extension of 18x12 on one side. Entire foot print 36x36x18x12x18x48. Two stories with 9 foot walls. I am aiming for net zero with a solar array and want the envelope as efficient as possible. Looking at 2x6 studs 24 inch off centre. I am trying to figure out would i go with spray foam, SIPs or double wall construction. I do all my own framing work and right now am starting to lean towards spray foam to eliminate concerns regarding moisture management if i wanted to max R factor with outside solid insulation. Would it be possible to have a class B estimate ( say within 10%) ( or even what your historic average cost per vertical square foot) for construction in the fall of this year so i can confirm in my mind this is the way i should go when i submit for my building permits shortly. I may also consider spray foam for unconditioned crawl space and attic. George Case |
