SprayWorks Equipment Group Announces Spray Foam Robot

January 7, 2009 - Hartville, OH - SprayWorks Equipment Group, LLC has designed a user-friendly robot, the Spraybot, to assist with spray foam application. The Spraybot application device, cart and controls have been developed specifically for roofing with spray applied polyurethane foam. The spray head itself is uniquely designed and can be used on machines that coat on roofs, walls, ceilings or even tanks. Jim Davidson, owner of SprayWorks and creator of the Spraybot, explains that he has “worked within the spray foam roofing and coating industry for more than 30 years and have a pretty good understanding of what the independent contractor is looking for. I developed this product with that in mind.”

Over time, there have been many innovations in the development of mechanical application machines, or robots, such as the Roamer, Robo 3000, Silver Eagle and, most recently, the Spraybot. The robots that are currently available on the market have many similarities in their control systems, cart, mechanical components and their ability to hold a spray gun. These machines offer a host of benefits over manual application, most notably that of expedited job completion, therefore resulting in increased business and revenue.

The big difference between the Spraybot and other machines is in the spray head design and the nearly unlimited opportunities to adapt that design for use with other material systems.

Furthermore, Spraybot does not flare at the end of each stroke like many competitive systems which can cause excessive overspray, loss of product and limited use around rooftop equipment. As well, the portable spray booth that contains the machine allows for maximum efficiency by complementing the direct spray control. Many other booth systems have to be built far wider than the machine unit to make up for the flair. There are also no reversing mechanisms at the end of each stroke, eliminating any delayed reactions caused from reversing as in other machines. Alternatively, Spraybot has a full time continuous spray rotational spray drive built directly into each unit.

Another advantage is in the design of the Spraybot itself. The mechanics of the Spraybot are quite simple compared to other machines, requiring minimal knowledge to maintain or repair. It is lightweight and breaks down into four components that are easily handled and can be quickly put together. As well, the Spraybot offers a clearance height of nearly 24 inches, much more than competitive systems, and is capable of impressive turning ratios for tight areas with limited space for movement. The machine has also been designed to work under windy conditions, testing successfully at wind speeds of 25-30 miles per hour without any detrimental effect to its performance.

The Spraybot is capable of working with any plural or single component processing machine for spray foam, polyurea or coatings. It is designed for low to high output production rates from 15 to 40 lbs. per minute. However, not all spray guns are capable of performing on a continual basis in a way that the Spraybot requires. Therefore, SprayWorks has created their own spray foam dispensing system especially suited to work with the Spraybot.

Optional equipment available for use with the Spraybot include a Honda power generator, custom spray booth, Spraybot spray gun system and an automated selector system for depth changes. SprayWorks also offers customized versions of the Spraybot.

Davidson points out that the company’s focus right now is to “work with our customers to help them be successful and profitable with the Spraybot as well as our other equipment. We will continue to provide quality in everything that we build, ensuring that it performs the way it is supposed to in real world conditions. We are constantly working on and continuing to perfect our equipment.”
