Spray Foam Used In Flood Resistant Home's Design used in flood resistant home's design
A flood-resistant home may seem like something out of a science fiction movie, but one company is constructing such a house, according to a report.
The International Business Times reports that Lance Cayko and Alex Gore from F9 Productions were tired of the constant flooding that struck the area near their home in Fargo, North Dakota. After some brainstorming sessions, they decided to design a home that was flood resistant and could survive through inclement weather.
Aside from designing it to sit upon elevated ground and using steel in construction, the design team also turned to a variety of tools to achieve the flood resistant designation. The architects also contracted with a designated company to apply R-50 spray foam insulation, which helps keep warm and cool air trapped in the home.
The home also has a number of energy efficiency tools like a solar panel system on the roof and a power supply storage facility in case of power outages. Spray foam can help keep moisture from causing mold to accumulate, which is another benefit of the house's design, the architects affirmed.
