Specialty Products Inc. Welcomes Benny Abbott to the Role of Director of Education and Field Training
LAKEWOOD, WA – Specialty Products, Inc. (SPI) of Lakewood, Washington is pleased to welcome Benny (Benjy) Abbott to the role of Director of Education and Field Training, effective February 1, 2016. Abbott is a 29 year industry veteran, who began his career in 1987 working in the family's industrial coating application business. His passion for the coating business led to his involvement with polyurea coatings around 1996, and eventually, the formation of his own coatings inspection and consultation company.
Benjy Abbott is a NACE Certified Level III Coatings Inspector with the NACE Nuclear Facilities Certification #7953. He was one of the first 25 individuals in the world to complete the NACE Nuclear Coatings Inspection Program. Abbott is a certified SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist (PCS) and a SSPC Certified Concrete Coatings Inspector Level II. Abbott also is an instructor for SSPC (The Society for Protective Coatings), PDA (The Polyurea Development Association), and is the current President of the PDA (Polyurea Development Association).

If there is anyone with extensive knowledge and experience in surface preparation for steel and concrete substrates for polyurea coatings, it's Benjy Abbott. He works tirelessly in the industry to promote the use of proper surface preparation, as well as the needed application techniques and proper use of plural component spray equipment. It is Abbott's experience and dedication to the coatings industry that has propelled him to the new role of Director of Education and Field Training for SPI. He will work to expand our current training curriculum and the number of courses offered in the US and abroad, to bring enhanced value to SPI customers.
