Safety and Stewardship Remain Top Priorities Spray Foam Contractors
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO - February 28, 2011 – Last week at its Global Dealer Conference in Phoenix, AZ, Icynene Inc. became one of the first spray foam manufacturer to conduct applicator workshops on the new Chemical Health and Safety Training, developed by the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC).
The training is a supplement to Icynene’s extensive in-house installer training program and is a key step in ensuring spray foam is properly handled and installed.
Icynene delivered this training via two workshops at its Global Conference. Its members were also encouraged to attend the training while at the annual Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) convention in Reno, NV earlier this month. Icynene will continue to encourage its foam installers and helpers to complete the training on-line. These efforts put Icynene in the forefront in supporting this industry initiative.
The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) has been thrilled with the interest and support of industry manufacturers such as Icynene and is working to make the 12-module training program, covering proper safety practices from start to finish, a mainstay of the industry.
Training module subjects range from appropriate set up, application and clean up to communication on-site and with customers. The training is complemented by a 30-question randomized test with a minimum passing grade of 70%. Those who pass the test receive a “Recognition of Completion” card that is valid for two years and can be used to verify that they have taken the health and safety training.
To date, Icynene has more spray foam applicators that have successfully completed CPI’s training than any other manufacturer, and the Company is challenging the industry to help get the Product Stewardship message out.
CPI’s Senior Director, Lee Salamone, recognizes Icynene’s leadership role in the spray polyurethane foam (SPF) industry: “We thank Icynene for the leadership they’ve shown by encouraging its Dealer network to become trained and tested for the safe handling of spray foam.”
