PU Magazine Delivers Global Spray Foam Market Review for 2011
DALLAS, TX - February 8, 2012 - During an important General Session at the 2012 SPFA Convention last week, Angela Austin delivered the Global Spray Foam Market Review for 2011. Austin is the Consulting Editor of Polyurethanes Magazine International, which is based out of Germany.
Her presentation provided an all-inclusive report on trends and issues affecting the global SPF industry. Here we’ll include highlights, but you can read a full-length version of the report on SprayFoam.com below.
Despite global economic challenges in 2011, production of spray polyurethane foam is estimated to have increased by 7.6 % from 2010, reaching a total of 1,007 billion lbs. The versatility and problem-solving abilities of spray foam have helped demand increase as governments and individuals aim to achieve greater energy ef?ciency. Globally, more countries invested in energy savings in 2011 than ever.
As for the United States, Austin reported that the spray foam market continues to grow. The USA continues to be the largest producer and consumer of SPF in the world, despite a poor housing market and a struggling economy.
In the past year, there has been substantial growth in both the renovation and weatherization markets in the USA, which bodes well for a forward-thinking, energy efficient-oriented product like spray foam. Renovation is the largest market share for SPF applications, and weatherization schemes upgraded 607,000 homes nationally.
Furthermore, production of SPF in North America (USA, Canada, Mexico) went up 8.3% from 2010-2011. Austin reported that US construction spending forecast is up for the next year. Overall her presentation was marked with considerable positivity, particularly against the rather dreary current economic backdrop.
The report contains much more, including details on specific sub-markets, the effect of new legislation, growth prospects for the SPF industry in Iran, and an analysis of the current SPF ban in China.
