Polyurethane Foam Systems Inc. (PFSI) to Host CUFCA Training Course April 6-8
WATERLOO, ONTARIO - January 13, 2011 - Polyurethane Foam Systems Inc. (PFSI) will be hosting a spray foam training course from April 4-8, 2011 near the companyís headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario. PFSI has now been hosting these training courses on a regular basis for over six years.
The course, offered in conjunction with the Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Association, features a five day curriculum with both classroom and hands-on training. The first day includes machine training with Jack Napora, Parts & Equipment Manager for PFSI, with assistance from Sean Harrison, PFSI Equipment Technician. The second and third day of the course consist of theory training with the first of two CUFCA certification examinations taking place on Wednesday afternoon. The instructor for this portion of the course is Mr. Peter Spafford of the Business Professionals Consortium with over 20 years of polyurethane foam experience. PFSI has also enlisted the assistance of Bayer Inc. representatives to conduct an Isocyanate safety module on Tuesday afternoon.
The second part of the certification course is a practicum spray-out wherein our trainees must suit-up and actually spray foam onto walls. Mr. Dave Pessah, Energy Management Services, will serve as the inspector for this portion of the certification. He has served in this capacity for most of the companyís courses held in Ontario. PFSI provides eco-friendly Polarfoam PF-7300-0 SOYA for the testing along with all required machinery, equipment and the spray walls. All trainees new to polyurethane foam spraying will be assigned a technician for practice spraying prior to their practicum spray-out test.
Judy Komer of PFSI states the benefits of the Polarfoam product used in the testing: "This foam is tried and tested and has been on the market for over three years with both winter grade and summer grade available for continual year-round spray foaming. Polarfoam is made with recycled plastics, soya oil and has zero ozone depletion."
When both portions of the certification program are passed, Polyurethane Foam Systems Inc. will send out a letter of competence to the Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Association and at this time, CUFCA will certify the trainee. They are then provided with a photo certification ID card.
Komer continues, "Polyurethane Foam Systems Inc. and the Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Association are committed to excellence in the spray foam industry. Stringent reporting and testing are continuous and contribute to the confidence of homeowners and contractors when choosing to have their homes and buildings insulated with quality CCMC certified Polarfoam."
There is also a social aspect of the training week, with PFSI providing opportunities for trainees to get together in a more casual atmosphere to promote the sharing of ideas and information. The course is limited to approximately 24 trainees and their January 2010 course was at full capacity months ahead of time, so the April 2011 course is sure to fill up quickly.
Komer points out, "Of the over 350 certified sprayers that have been trained at PFSI, many have gone on to start their own businesses. We have many impressive success stories among our graduates."
