NCFI Spray Foam Insulation Saves Coca-Cola “Spaceship” Money on Lost Product and Energy Costs

MOUNT AIRY, NC – May 11, 2015 – A frozen pipe that burst inside a 70,000 sq. ft. Kentucky Coca-Cola distribution facility recently brought the office to a screeching halt. Even worse than the water damage was the discovery of mold growing in the batt insulation surrounding the pipe due to condensation between the ceiling and the roof from vented soffits. Though the mold had no contact with the consumable goods, the problem needed to be dealt with immediately. Luckily, Purefoam Insulation, Shelbyville, Ky., offered the perfect quick and effective solution: InsulStar® spray foam insulation by US company, NCFI Polyurethanes.

Manuel Adler, president of Purefoam, said, “The room was circular in shape, a space ship sort of design, with a 22-foot peak. It was going to require scaffolding, which, with any other product, would make the job much more complicated. After applying three inches of InsulStar®, usually used for residential insulation, we decided to install a protective coating instead of drywall that would both comply with local building code, and save time.” They applied the InsulStar® SPF foam to the roofdeck of the 4,500 sq. ft. office space.

“We used a Graco H-30 proportioner to apply the foam to the underside of the roof with a Graco Fusion air-purge gun,” Adler explained. The InsulStar® sealed the roof from condensation and protected pipes from the elements, a job the conventional batt insulation failed to do.

After a job that took three days to complete and three hours to clean up, Adler was praised by Coca-Cola management claiming the spray foam insulation was so effective that they no longer had to adjust their thermostat regularly. “Lucky for them, this is a job they’ll only need done once. Unlike other insulation, InsulStar® will not mold, will not let in moisture, and never needs to be replaced. Ever. This is why we spray NCFI products: they are the highest-quality and most consistent products in the industry.”
