Maine Spray Foam Company Owner Talks About Origins and Future Plans

EXETER, ME – June 27, 2011 – Maine-based Circle-D-Sprayfoam speaks with SprayFoam.com about the company’s origins as well as their future plans. Circle-D-Sprayfoam, located in Exeter, ME, has been in the spray foam business for over four years now. “I was very interested in spray foam after having some done for me” said Skip Doodson, owner of Circle-D-Sprayfoam. “I liked how it performed. I started my research and took the proper training before purchasing my own equipment. In May 2007, I started the company and worked by myself until October.”

After five months of working solo, Doodson hired his first employee and the duo continued spraying for the next three and a half years. As the stream of work continued to grow, the two-man team grew to three in November 2010. Working statewide, Doodson and his team work a lot of small jobs, some of which include basements and renovations. "Sometimes we return to a job site three to four times as they renovate a room or two at a time,” said Doodson. “A lot of folks just want to tighten up their basement or attic and make there home more energy efficient."

Some of the more unique jobs that Doodson and his team have encountered throughout their involvement with the spray foam industry include the application of spray foam to a home from the outside. "The customer removed all his siding and sheathing to install the foam so he did not have to demo the interior and could still live in the home while the renovation was in progress,” said Doodson. Another job that Doodson and his team were involved with included the application of spray foam insulation in a 14,000 square foot grocery store. "One challenge we faced when spraying the grocery store was the fact that the slab had not yet been poured," said Doodson. "With the aid of all-terrain scissor lifts, however, we got the job done on schedule."

Currently, Doodson and his team continue to work all around Maine with potential plans to work in another form of spray foam application.

“We are looking into the possibility of working in spray foam roofing right now,” said Doodson. “We recently began a partnership with a roofing company that will assist us in getting into the roofing market. I hope that with this partnership, Circle-D-Sprayfoam will be able to open new doors to customers and inform them of the benefits of putting a spray foam roof on their building. I've found several people in Maine who did not realize spray foam could be used as a roofing material as well as a form of insulation. A spray foam roof is very prevalent in the southern part of the country for their durability and hurricane resistance.”
