Louisiana Spray Foam Contractor Completes Roofing Job

New Orleans, LA – December 8, 2011 – Located in southeastern Louisiana, Duralite Insulators is a spray polyurethane foam insulation and acrylic roof coating contracting company that prides itself on using professionally trained personnel to provide customers with the best service possible.

Specializing in the application of spray foam insulation on walls, attics, crawl spaces, new construction, renovations and commercial buildings, Duralite is a company that is seeing a lot success and business throughout the southern Louisiana and Mississippi area.

Bill Marmande, president of Duralite, spoke with SprayFoam.com about his company's recent job that involved the application of spray foam on the roof of an apartment unit for a New Orleans-based apartment managing company.

"We have been working with the same housing managing company since 2006," Marmande said. "Before this recent job, we sprayed three other apartment units. This fourth one was the last of the series."

The 4,500-square-foot roof project required Marmande to dispatch a two-man crew.

Upon arrival, the crew conducted a moisture scan of the roof. Noticing the that roof was not initially in good shape, the crew refastened the roof and applied adhesive primer. Once the primer settled, the crew applied one-inch closed-cell polyurethane foam. The crew then sprayed two coats of elastomeric silicone white reflective coating.

While on the job, Marmande's crew were forced to work around strong winds and cold weather.

"We had to pay extra attention to temperature control for our equipment, as well as overspray prevention," Marmande said.

After five days of working, the crew completed the project. Marmande stated that a roof job of that nature normally finishes in a shorter timespan, but due to the uncooperative weather, winds and cold weather forced the crew to spend an extended amount of time on the project.

The extra time, however, paid off in the end.

"The company was very happy," Marmande said. "We are definitely looking forward to working with those guys again."

Marmande also gave credit to the success of the job to his relationship with American Weatherstar, an Alabama-based roof coating supply company that provided the roof coating for the project.

For the past year, Duralite and American Weatherstar have developed a relationship of cooperative advertisements, mail ordering and commercial marketing to generate job leads for both companies.

"The relationship between American Weatherstar and [Duralite] has been very successful," Marmande said. "It's been a good marriage."

With the completion of the apartment roofing job, Marmande expressed his interest in spreading the word to other spray foam contractors about the importance of applying spray foam on roofs.

"I'm a firm believer in spray foam roofing," he said. "It's the only roofing system that if done properly commercially, can provide a very good roofing system."
