Lapolla Obtains ICC-ES Approval on .5 pcf SPF for Insulation
HOUSTON, TX — (MARKET WIRE) — April 23, 2009 — Lapolla Industries, Inc. (LPAD.OB) (“Lapolla”) a Houston based manufacturer and supplier of spray foam insulation, coatings, and equipment designed to reduce energy consumption in the commercial and residential new construction and retrofit markets today announced that its half pound spray foam insulation has been approved for use in wall cavities, floor and ceiling assemblies, and attic and crawl space applications by ICC Evaluation Service, Inc. (ICC-ES).
“This credential represents a turning point for Lapolla and effectively eliminates the product approval barrier to entry in North American markets for Lapolla’s spray foam insulation,” stated Douglas J. Kramer, President and CEO of Lapolla.
Lapolla’s low-density open-cell spray foam insulation, branded Foam-LOK™ (FL500) and AirTight™ OC, is installed as a nonstructural component of floor/ceiling and wall assemblies, in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. It is spray applied and expands to help seal the building envelope. Sealing the building envelope prevents conditioned indoor air from escaping and unconditioned air from entering a building. Uncontrolled air flow in a building can be responsible for as much as 40% of energy loss. Lapolla’s finished product is a cost-effective solution providing improved occupant comfort, better air quality, superior noise reduction, and greater energy savings over conventional insulation systems.
“Design professionals, contractors, building inspectors and engineers look for advanced insulation systems that not only offer energy-saving solutions but also have a proven record of performance and rely on ICC-ES as a validation resource. The ICC-ES report certifies Foam-LOK (FL500) and AirTight OC spray foam insulation complies with essential building codes and provides building professionals, code officials, and consumers alike decisive assurance of quality standards and value,” concluded Mr. Kramer.
