Gaco WallFoam Open-Cell Spray Foam Earns ICC-ES Evaluation Report
SEATTLE, WA–June 19, 2012–Gaco Western, a leader in innovative spray foam insulation, is pleased to announce GacoGreen 052/052N recently received an evaluation report (ESR# 2478) from ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), providing evidence that the half pound open cell spray-applied polyurethane foam meets the following code requirements:
- Installation without a prescriptive thermal barrier when exposed surfaces are coated with DC 315 Fireproof Paint at a rate of 13 dry mils (20 wet mils) in accordance with the coating manufacturer's instructions and ESR# 2478.
- Installation without a prescriptive ignition barrier within attics or crawl spaces where entry is made only for service or maintenance when coated with DC 315 Intumescent Coating at a rate of 3 dry mils (4 wet mils) in accordance with the coating manufacturer's instructions and ESR# 2478.
Gaco Western has a history of offering customers the most innovative products and solutions in the industry – the company's GacoFireStop is the first single-application, open-cell spray foam insulation of its kind that requires no additional ignition barrier, and now the company's GacoGreen 052/052N has one of the thinnest coating requirements for alternative ignition barriers with only 3 dry mils required when using DC 315 Intumescent Coating.
GacoGreen 052/052N Half Pound Open Cell Foam is a Class 1 fire rated foam and meets the requirements of ICC-ES AC377 Acceptance Criteria for Foam Plastic Insulation. This water-blown, spray-applied system cures to a semi-rigid very low-density foam that forms a completely sealed air barrier that guards against air infiltration for the life of the building. With one of the highest Aged R-Values available in the industry, GacoGreen 052/052N helps reduce energy consumption and provides a quieter environment.
"Contractors are focused on the bottom line and their ability to meet code requirements for alternative ignition and thermal barriers over GacoGreen 052/052N will help them save time and increase profits without sacrificing quality or safety," said Tom Sojak, Vice President of Sales, Gaco WallFoam Division.
ICC-ES thoroughly examined Gaco Western's product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure GacoGreen 052/52N is code-compliant. "Gaco Western can now reference the evaluation report to ensure building officials and the building industry that the product meets I-Code requirements," said ICC-ES President Mark Johnson. "Building departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource for the building department. Final approval of building products is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency." The report is available at www.icc-es.org/Evaluation_Reports and at www.gacowallfoam.com/CodeApprovals.html
