Florida SPF Equipment and Material Supplier Eyes Elevation of Entire Spray Foam Industry

CAPE CORAL, FL - March 2, 2012 - The benefits of spray foam have been heralded for years now. Numerous contractors in the insulation industry at large, or even the construction industry in general, are looking either to adopt spray foam or utilize it as a means to diversify their set of service offerings. This trend doesn't go unnoticed by Source of Supply in Polyurethanes, a spray foam equipment and material supplier based out of Cape Coral, Florida.

"Many of our customers are looking into adopting spray foam from other lines of work," said Michelle Cole, CFO of SSP.

For nearly two decades, SSP has made its mission center around improving the spray foam industry as a whole. This is evident in the company's philosophy with regard to its customers, or potential customers.

"Our customers appreciate the fact that we just answer them honestly. We want to make sure they know what they're getting into before they start, that they're educated before they buy, even if they don't buy from us. We'd rather have a good name out there for everybody," Cole pointed out.

And with every inquiry to SSP, another convert to spray foam.

"Everybody sees the benefits, it's just whether or not their market will allow it right now," Cole said.

Up-front costs are usually the biggest barrier for most customers looking to break into the spray foam industry. To address this, SSP carries in their inventory contractor packages geared toward customers who aren't dead-set on shelling out five- or six-figures right off the bat.

The SSP1000 line of foam systems include everything an up-and-coming spray contractor needs: 2 spray guns, 50 feet of hose (available in heated or non-heated models), nitrogen regulators, a gram scale and a one-man, NIOSH-approved fresh air system. SSP provides 2lb./cu ft. A&B material for the system, available in 17, 60 and 120 gallon sets (it should be noted that transporting 60 and 120 gallon sets requires a HazMat license, per the Department of Transportation). Additional 50 foot lengths of hose are also available.

SSP not only fosters the spray foam industry by facilitating entry into it, but also by shaping their customers' spray-applied aptitude. The company offers spray application training, a service that is offered on-site or at SSP's facility in Covington, Georgia.

The on-site training is geared toward new entrants in the spray foam industry, namely those who buy the starter systems. While these contractors are familiar with the basics of spraying, on-site guidance is invaluable in this line of work.

"What we like to do when somebody first buys is travel to them and be there at their first job site," said Cole. "Then they really get to see what goes on, the little things."

SSP's training facility typically sees traffic from contractors who purchase entire spray rigs, as it's located on the same premises where SSP builds and outfits its spray rig offerings. Customers can hone their skills on everything from equipment setup to proper cleaning to spraying different assemblies and substrates.

"They can pay to have the rigs delivered to them, or they can pick it up themselves and get their training right there because it's included," explained Cole.

Full-fledge spray rigs top off SSP's product offerings, which also include spray guns, proportioners and a multitude of foams. The company also services equipment.
