Dow Chemical Lists IFTI’s DC315 as Alternative Thermal Barrier for Wall Assemblies

ELMENDORF, TX–May 7, 2012–The Dow Chemical Company's revised ESR report, ESR-1659 dated April 1, 2012, lists International Fireproof Technology Inc.'s (IFTI's) DC315 as an approved alternative thermal barrier. DC315 is listed for use on THERMAX 4.25" and 3.0" Insulation Boards.

Gary Wolfe Executive Vice President of IFTI states, "The addition of DC315 to Dow Chemical's ESR-1659 over THERMAX Insulation Boards is another step forward in IFTI's goal to prove via testing and documentation that DC315 is the best code compliant solution for alternative Ignition and thermal barrier use in the industry. IFTI leads the industry with its catalog of over 30 full scale tests on SPF, on both open and closed cell SPF with 14 major SPF manufactures. Any coating company can tell you their coating will work on the foam brand you spray; it is another thing to prove it with testing, a critical requirement of alternative ignition and thermal barrier solutions. If you are not using DC315, you may not be complying with the codes!"

All of our testing meets the applicable requirements of 2006 IBC Section 803.2.1. / 2009 IBC Section 803.1.2 and Section 2603.9 Special Approval for Thermal Barrier Alternatives. Our ignition barrier testing meet the requirement as an ignition barrier per AC 377, Appendix X.

DC315 has passed testing on Arnette, BASF, Bay Science, DOW, Icynene, Lapolla, NCFI, Gaco Western, Johns Manville – Corbond, Quadrant, SWD, CertainTeed, and Henry SPF.
