Most people in the spray foam industry are aware of the heightened interest by several federal agencies in spray polyurethane foam insulation. That interest centers primarily on the environmental health and safety of the product for installers, other trades and building occupants.
In response to the concerns voiced by the federal agencies, the Center for the Polyurethane Industry along with the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance rolled out updated base-level training at the Spray Foam 2010 Conference February in Orlando. Systems manufacturers were asked by CPI and SPFA to begin using the material as part of their existing dealer training programs.
“Incorporating the material into our upcoming trainings was not a problem, but we also wanted to find a way to reach our existing dealers. We thought online training would allow us to do that,” said Brian Rice, applications, operations and equipment manager for BioBased Insulation®. “Because we were offering the training online we decided to open the sessions to any contractor, not just our own, to help train others in safe SPF practices.”
The training, led by Rice and William Parker, AOE specialist, will use the materials that were developed by CPI and SPFA. Participants will be able to view the slides and hear the presentation either by using a computer with speakers and a sound card or by using a computer and calling the webinar phone number provided upon registration. Once registered, participants will be directed to a site to download handouts for the presentation.
In addition to the live training sessions, a recorded version of the webinar will be posted to the BioBased Insulation® Web site, www.biobased.net/product-stewardship, after April 8.
