Bayer MaterialScience LLC to Showcase Green Products at Expo
Toronto, Canada - October 4, 2011 - From energy-efficient insulation and durable, aesthetically pleasing polycarbonate glazing to advanced coatings and sealants and a burgeoning green building network, Bayer MaterialScience LLC will feature its broad portfolio of sustainable building solutions at this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.
Of particular interest is an animated rendering that brings to life some of the more than 120 Bayer building technologies and solutions that can help architects, engineers, contractors and building owners meet their green goals.
Following is a sneak peek of what will be featured at Bayer’s booth, 6829S, during the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to eco-friendly building.
Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation
Efficient insulation is critical to the reduction of energy consumption. Bayer offers several insulation technologies for perimeter wall and roofing insulation. Additionally, the company’s polyurethane spray foam insulation saves up to 99.5 percent of the energy used to produce the material over a 50-year life span.
One technology highlighted this year is EcoBayTM spray polyurethane foam insulation, which is an Air Barrier Association of America-recognized material that reduces energy consumption, lowers operating costs, prevents air leaks and provides continuous insulation for interior or exterior applications without thermal bridging.
High-performance Window and Glazing Systems
Bayer’s Makrolon® polycarbonate sheet products provide the versatility, strength, energy efficiency and aesthetics that building and construction professionals seek. Specifically, Bayer will highlight versatile window systems from Winco Windows that were developed for educational facilities. The windows, which feature Makrolon 15 and Makrolon multi UV polycarbonate sheet, are an alternative to fiberglass-faced daylighting products.
Advanced–performance Coatings and Sealants
Bayer will feature advanced-performance materials, including technologies for waterborne coatings and sealants that offer renewable content with ultra-low-to-zero volatile organic compound (VOC) levels. Additionally, the company offers low-odor resins for an architectural wall coating technology ideal for healthcare facilities. The technology provides extended-service life in areas that are frequently disinfected/scrubbed with harsh chemicals.
Also of interest is Bayer’s bio-based seamless floor coating technology for refurbishing commercial building floors. This seamless solution provides an excellent foundation for decorative top coats.
EcoCommercial Building Network
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the fast-growing EcoCommercial Building (ECB) Network, which now includes 15 organizations with broad sustainable building expertise.
