2013 RESNET Building Performance Conference To Take Place February 27th to March 1st, 2013 In Orlando

ORLANDO, FL – February 20, 2013 – The theme of this year's 2013 RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network) Building Performance Conference is "Building Knowledge/Building Teamwork." The conference will be held from February 27th to March 1st, 2013 at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida. The RESNET Building Performance Conference is the premier national forum on home energy ratings, commercial building energy modeling, and improving the energy efficiency of existing homes.

This year's conference is expanding its scope by including the following:

  •   A special EnergySmart Builders Track
  •   A Contractors Track
  •   An Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR Homes Track
  •   A U.S. Department of Energy Track
  •   The 2013 RESNET Conference Co-Locating with the Air Conditioning Contractors of America Conference (a unique opportunity to network and build powerful partnerships with HVAC contractors)
  •   Inclusion in the Indoor Environment & Energy Exposition (the largest energy performance trade show in the U.S.)

Many individuals attend the RESNET Conference to help determine whether or not they will enter the rating industry. Many of the sessions offered in past conferences involved jargon and assumed knowledge that may not have been familiar to people new to the rating industry, so a half-day pre-conference training session on HERS 101 will be offered on February 26th, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This session is designed to introduce a beginner to the industry by providing a context for the more advanced sessions offered at the conference.

Abe Kruger, who founded Kruger Sustainability Group in 2009 and helped develop the RESNET National Standard for Energy Audits, will conduct the half-day training session. Training is only being offered to attendees of the 2013 RESNET Conference.

Online registration for the conference will be available until February 20th. Registration costs $600 for members and $750 for non-members. Onsite registration will also be available for $850.

About RESNET: RESNET is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the RESNET Mortgage Industry National Home Energy Rating Standards (HERS). Home energy ratings can be used for new or existing homes. Rating an existing home allows the homeowner to receive a report listing options for upgrading the home's energy efficiency, which can be used to determine the most effective ways to upgrade the home's energy efficiency. A home energy rating of a new home allows buyers to compare the energy efficiency of homes they are considering for purchase.
