Watts Bar Nuclear Facility Gets Polyurethane Foam Roof and Acrylic Coatings
Jason Forrester of Finishing Solutions in Birmingham, AL was asked by Williams Industrial to for both a water-tight roof and a system that would offer a better insulation value on this 12,000 sq ft metal building at the Watts Bar Nuclear Facility in Sweetwater TN. Jason commented, “The work it takes in order to be able to enter this type of facility was more extensive than the project itself, but the successful completion of a project for a organization like Williams Industrial, in a facility such as this, will really help build our business down the road.” Finishing Solutions first power-washed the metal panels, then applied 1.5” of Polyurethane Foam over the metal, which water-proofed the building and gave them an R11 plus the airtight value of SPF. Finally they applied two coats of Acrylic 211 at a total rate of 3 gallons per 100 square feet to protect the foam from UV degradation. This SPF coating system should give this building at least ten years of water-tight protection and significantly help save on energy bills.
