DC315 Passes Ignition Barrier Testing on Bayseal Open-Cell Spray Foam

IRVINE, CA–April 25, 2013–International Fireproof Technology Inc. (IFTI) and Bayer Material Science LLC, announced today that DC315 spray-applied coating passed certified testing over Bayseal™ 0.5 lb. open-cell spray foam as an ignition barrier.

Richard Guarneri, Vice President of Technology, states, "We are excited to get an industry leading application rate of 400 sq. ft. per gallon on Bayer™ 0.5 lb. open-cell foam. This makes DC315 the most cost-effective ignition barrier option on the market. DC315 was tested per AC 377 Appendix X standards as an ignition barrier at Intertek in Elmendorf, Texas."

Gary Wolfe, Executive Vice President of IFTI, states, "We are aggressively testing for many manufactures who will settle for nothing less than certified, code-compliant testing of their SPF brands. We expect to pass many more foams and brands over the next 60 days. IFTI leads the industry with its catalog of over 59 full scale certified tests. Any coating company can tell you their coating will work on the foam brand you spray; it is another thing to prove it with testing. If you are not using DC315 you may not be complying with the codes!"

All tests are full-scale tests that meet the applicable requirements of 2006 IBC Section 803.2.1; 2009 IBC Section 803.2.1 and Section 2603.9; 2012 IBC Section 803.2.1 and Section 2603.10 Special Approval for Thermal Barrier Alternatives. our Ignition Barrier testing meets the requirement per AC 377, Appendix X.

DC315 has passed testing on Arnette, BASF, Bayer Material Science, DOW, Icynene, Lapolla, NCFI, Gaco Western, Johns Manville-Corbond, Quadrant, SWD, CertainTeed, Henry SPF, Natural Polymers, Air Tight, and Guardfoam (see link below for a full list of certified tests).

DC 315 is a one-coat, water-based latex paint that offers superior fire protection over foam. The coating meets the low VOC emission requirements for use in classroom and office environments, as defined in the CA DHS Standard Practice, as a low-emitting material in the "Collaborative for High Performance Schools" rating system. The product applies like regular latex paint using an airless sprayer, and being water based, offers easy clean up.
