DC 315 Continues to Pass Testing as an Ignition and Thermal Barrier

ELMENDORF, TX- March 21, 2012 - International Fireproof Technology Inc. (IFTI) and Gaco Western announced today that IFTI’s DC315 spray-applied coating passed over GacoGreen 052N .5 pound open cell foam as an Ignition and Thermal Barrier.

Ignition Barrier:  Industry leading application rate of 400 sq. ft. gallon. This makes DC 315 the most cost effective ignition barrier option on the market.   DC 315 was tested per AC 377 appendix X standards as an ignition barrier.

Thermal Barrier: application rate of 80 sq. ft. per gallon, single coat application.  DC315 was tested to the NFPA 286 full corner room burn test.

According to IFTI Executive Vice President Gary Wolfe, “DC 315 hitting 400 sq. ft. a gallon as an ignition barrier is just awesome. Not only is DC 315 a diverse coating but it is the most economical, user-friendly product on the market. It is the only coating that can be used as both ignition and thermal barrier over the majority of spray foam manufacturer’s products.”

Mr. Wolfe went on to say, “ DC315 has now passed an industry leading 21 Thermal Barrier tests from 13 industry leading foam manufactures, representing over 21 different open and closed cell foams.  All of our testing carries the WH Mark as a certified NFPA 286 test for 15 minutes. If you are not using DC315 you may not be complying with the codes!”

The Thermal Barrier testing meets the applicable requirements of 2006 IBC Section 803.2.1. / 2009 IBC Section 803.1.2 and Section 2603.9 Special Approval for Thermal Barrier Alternatives and the Ignition Barrier testing meet the requirement as an Ignition Barrier per AC 377, Appendix X.

DC 315 is a one coat, water-based latex paint that offers superior fire protection over foam.  The coating meets the low VOC emission requirements for use in classroom and office environments as defined in the CA DHS Standard Practice. Thus, the testing requirements are met to qualify the product as a low emitting material in the “Collaborative for High Performance Schools” rating system. The product applies like regular latex paint using an airless sprayer, and being water based, offers easy clean up.
